WEEKLY OUTREACH UPDATE
COVID-19 has created hunger and food insecurity in many communities. In Arlington, the greatest need has been right here in our neighborhood, along Columbia Pike in South Arlington. We wanted to help meet our neighbors' food needs, but we knew we lacked the staff and resources to do it ourselves. Instead, we decided to invest in another neighborhood church in South Arlington: Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church (OLQP).
For over three decades, OLQP has run a food pantry that meets a necessary gap in our community, providing food to those who do not qualify for assistance with the local food bank (Arlington Food Assistance Center). The demand grew significantly during the pandemic, and OLQP rapidly increased its capacity, serving hundreds of families. Their work was featured in a great Washington Post story in April.
We're proud to support this vibrant South Arlington church in feeding hungry neighbors!
