Several weeks ago, Liz preached about our friends S&T in West Asia who have persevered for decades despite many hardships. We are so grateful for their model of faithfulness.
We're also grateful for C&R, longtime friends in West Asia who faithfully serve in an Anglican church and minister to Syrian refugees, all while raising three young kids and finishing a graduate program during a pandemic.
And we are grateful for K, a gifted West Asia leader who is pursuing seminary and training for ordination. You may recall that we are investing in her preparation through our outreach funds, and that last year we were introduced to her through this song during our offertory music (that's her singing)!
These friends have, like all of us, endured a very difficult and draining year. And because one of our outreach priorities is "refreshing the workers," we hope to send a small team to West Asia this fall to encourage and refresh them for their ongoing ministry. Here's what we envision*:
November 7-15, 2021
Cost: flights + $500 for meals, housing
A very small team (probably no more than 5) with previous Turkish language/travel experience strongly preferred
Several days in the capital city, several days beside the lake
Time spent simply being with our friends: encouraging, laughing, praying, listening, seeking ways to lighten their load (perhaps a bit of babysitting?)
Several mandatory meetings before and after the trip to prepare and process
*Due to the uncertainty of the pandemic, we are holding these plans VERY lightly. We will discern, pray, and adapt as the pandemic continues throughout the fall, and if we must cancel the trip, we will.
Interested in joining this team? Please fill out this form by Sunday, August 15.
